The Path Journal was created to be a daily companion to help you engage with Scripture, reflect on God’s truth, and grow in your faith journey. With space for SOAP journaling, sermon notes, and encouragement, it’s designed to keep you grounded in His Word, even when life feels uncertain. In this entry, we look at Genesis 18:14 where we will see and discover what it means to trust God completely.

What is the SOAP Method?

The SOAP method is a simple way to engage with Scripture by writing down a verse (Scripture), reflecting on its meaning (Observation), applying it to your life (Application), and responding to God in prayer (Prayer). It helps you slow down, process God’s Word, and grow in faith through daily reflection.

Diving into Genesis 18:14

Scripture

Genesis 18:14 scripture art background true north church
"Is anything too difficult for the Lord? ... at this time next year, Sarah will have a son" Genesis 18:14

Observation

  • In the chapters leading up to this, God had been preparing Abraham/Sarah for "the impossible." At one point, they felt the need to "help "God by having Abraham sleep with Hagar so that they could have a son. Even after their lack of judgment, God still promised to bless Abraham with a son through Sarah – as he had promised all along. Humanly speaking they couldn't understand, but with God, nothing is too difficult.

Application

  • Many times I try to "help" God in my humanness and completely fail. Sometimes I don't understand how God's will is going to be accomplished. But for God…nothing is too difficult. I need to trust God in HIS way. God's way is perfect.

Prayer

God, please help me to trust. Help me to believe. Help me to know that with you nothing is too difficult.

Trusting in God's Perfect Timing

Abraham and Sarah’s story is a powerful reminder that God’s timing and ways are always better than our own. Even when they tried to take control, God remained faithful to His promise. How often do we do the same; trying to “help” God when we don’t see immediate results? His faithfulness never waivers, and His plans unfold in ways we could never imagine... we must trust in that always.

The Path Journal isn’t just a space for reflection; it’s an opportunity to surrender, trust, and grow in faith. As you continue your journey, may you rest in the truth that God’s plan is always worth the wait. Need more? We are praying and here for you no matter what season of life you are in.
