The Path Journal was created to be a daily companion to help you engage with Scripture, reflect on God’s truth, and grow in your faith journey. With space for SOAP journaling, sermon notes, and encouragement, it’s designed to keep you grounded in His Word, even when life feels uncertain. In this entry, we look at Exodus 6:12 where we will see and discover what it means to trust God completely.

What is the SOAP Method?

The SOAP method is a simple way to engage with Scripture by writing down a verse (Scripture), reflecting on its meaning (Observation), applying it to your life (Application), and responding to God in prayer (Prayer). It helps you slow down, process God’s Word, and grow in faith through daily reflection.

Diving into Exodus 6:12

Scripture

Exodus 6:12 scripture art background true north church
"But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, the people of Israel have not listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?” Exodus 6:12

Observation

  • This isn't the first time we see Moses resisting God's command, and it won't be the last. Moses provides excuse after excuse to avoid obeying God's voice. God uses miracles, provides reassurance, and even gives Moses assistance (through Aaron) and Moses still stubbornly finds more excuses and reasons why he's "unfit" for the job God has called him to do.

Application

  • How many times have I looked for an excuse or tried to find reasons to not obey God? It is so easy to disregard God's voice when we continue to find excuses just like Moses. And yet, God still proves faithful by continuing to nudge us - even in our own stubbornness.

Prayer

God help me to listen for your voice. Help me to always yield to your will and calling. Thank you for being faithful - even when I don't deserve it.

Trusting God Beyond Our Excuses

Exodus 6:12 is a powerful reminder that God’s calling doesn’t depend on our confidence or qualifications. Like Moses, we often resist God’s voice with excuses, fear, or feelings of inadequacy. But God doesn’t give up on us. He continues to call, equip, and patiently lead us. May we be people who stop running from His calling and start trusting that if God has asked us to do it, He’ll be faithful to see it through. Even in our weakness, He remains strong and steady.

Need more? The Path Journal isn’t just a space for reflection; it’s an opportunity to surrender, trust, and grow in faith. As you continue your journey, may you rest in the truth that God’s plan is always worth the wait. We are praying and here for you no matter what season of life you are in.
